Still among the living

Contrary to popular belief, I am still alive and have not become one of the walking dead at the Oneida. In fact, I'm long since done with that case, and I'll write all the details up soon. But let me apologize for my absence, and try to offer an explanation. When I started writing about my cases, it was during a lull in work and I was able to provide somewhat consistent updates. These days, things have gotten much more busy, and I've found myself with much less personal time to devote to this blog. Also, the more days I miss writing about, the longer the entries must invariably be. I realized the implications of this as I started to continue the next entry in the Oneida case, and realized that it would probably come out upwards of ten pages or longer. Ten page blog entries aren't fun for me or you (well, maybe for you, but not for me!).

I'm not going anywhere, not to worry. But I'm going to slow down just a bit and only post those day-to-day cases I know I can keep on a day-to-day update status. This will also mean a few more posts from my past than usual. For example, I saw someone asked me to relate a case in which I thought I was right and turned out to be wrong. While I'd like to believe I'm perfect, the truth of the matter is I fuck up like the rest of us, and am not adverse to letting you in on the details. Also, very shortly I'll post a summary of what happened at the Oneida and who was behind it all. Then on to (hopefully!) some day to day stuff.

More soon.

PD - I'm glad your still among the living. Your story telling abilities are quite wonderful. You have a way with words and when I'm reading your post's, I get lost in the story and feel like I'm there with you. Thanks for entertaining me.

If your PD abilities are half as good as your story telling abilities, then your one heck of a PD!!!

Good to hear you have not become a haunt at the hotel. I'm glad to hear that business is booming, but I do enjoy hearing about your cases.

I believe I was the one who requested a case from the archives where you came to the wrong conclusion. Clever criminals are ever so much more interesting. Still, the fact that the case got solved later (otherwise you would not now know that you had fucked something up) perhaps means that criminal was not so clever after all.

Curious. I thought I had posted a comment earlier, but perhaps ghosts in the machine foiled the attempt.

Glad to hear that business is booming and you are not haunting the Oneida or sleeping with whatever fishes might inhabit the East River. I was the one who asked about cases in which you might have arrived at the wrong conclusion. We do all fuck up on occasion, which is what makes life interesting. And, of course, those criminals did too. Otherwise how would you have known that you had erred somehow in your investigation?

Hey gorgeous - so glad to hear you are still around and haven't done a 'Rance' on us ;)

We appreciate your time and will gladly devour any tidbits you care to throw our way. Real life tends to get in the way sometimes (as it's intended to do) and we all understand that. Just don't forget us, your devoted bloggees!

Love ya lots!

Dagnammit - I think our darling PD has fallen into the abyss that is Real Life (TM).

Please come back Dicko, if for no other reason than to tell us your reign as the next Rance is kaput.

Yours in blogginess,

I am getting frustrated with the lack of updates. I have waited for a long time for the ending to the Natalie/Mr. Tanaka story and now this latest one. I am afraid if it doesn't pick back up, PD will lose his fan base. Please come back and keep blogging. I really enjoyed it and miss it. Turning on my computer first thing and getting the "rest of the story" here at the office with my coffee and cig was my routine and darn it I want it back!!!!

Credibility Alert: Hotels don't have 13th floors. Guest superstitions have long been factored in to the hotel business so that floor 13 does not appear. It is called the 14th floor. If the general populace knows this, why doesn't PD? A rare modern hotel ignores this tradition but I have not seen a historic hotel that did/does.

Hey Dick,

I don't know if you're one for video games, but on any recent system there's a game called True Crime: Streets of L.A. ....
Yeah, yeah, I know you don't live in L.A., but the main character kind of reminds me of you. You should rent it sometime. :)

Also try dropping more stories to your fans. We're all dying waiting for you here!

Des.

~ Oh, I have a few leads on who you are. ;)

Hi Priv e Dick, I find it quite refreshing to occasionally find a article like yours with an familair topic such as Still among the living. Its not was I was searching for but somehow ads to ones list of lifes experiences.

I have a soft spot for sites and blogs related to family tree software and /or sites that have a central theme around family tree software type items.

Once again, thank you Priv e Dick, look forward see more posts from you in the future :-)
